Our Story

The Wooden Chicken has been a roadhouse institution on NE Sandy since 1978. Our community of customers is built upon the local residents and businesses that patronize our pub. Whether it be a Sunday 49er game, a softball team post-game function, or a get-together after a round of golf, all are welcome in our doors. Known famously for our fish and chips, our menu centers on classic bar food, cold beer, and classic cocktails.

There are two origin stories that our patrons like to whisper:

Originally farmland, the lot at NE 125th and Sandy, unearthed petrified chicken corpses during the development of the property, and hence the name of our beloved tavern, The Wooden Chicken Pub, was born.

The second account is that a group was standing around in the parking lot, trying to figure out what to name the pub. All they could see was piles of lumber and empty buckets of KFC on the ground. Hence, β€œThe Wooden Chicken.”

Whichever story you prefer, we hope to see you soon.
